Donetsk National Medical University was established in 1930 as the M. Gorky Donetsk Medical Institute. In 1994 it was given the status of University and in 2007 it gained the status of National Medical University. Also known as M.Gorky Donetsk National Medical University ranks first among Ukrainian medical universities constantly since 2001-2015 according to the rating of Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education of Ukraine.

The Donetsk National Medical University (Kirovohrad Medical Institute) has the 4th (The highest) level of accreditation in Ukraine and has greatly contributed to the development of Ukraine’s higher educational system, medical services.

Since March 2004 Donetsk National Medical University (Kirovohrad Medical Institute) has been appointed the primary regional center for Bologna process managing in Ukraine.DNMU students have the opportunity to study various academic modules in any other European Medical University and after getting the specialist degree they will have a very attractive employment prospective and in America. Today more than 15000 students are studying at eight faculties of Donetsk National Medical University “DNMU” .
